We were happy to choose this business because Derek, the owner, has provided a mentorship for our students for the last few years and he does a lot for the community.

This project was part of a video contest called the Kalo Awards Mahalo Mom and Pops Competition, you can watch the promo video here, which includes a quick shot of GString Ukuleles and our commercial. As part of the Kalo Awards, we were interviewed to talk about what we learned from the experience. This interview was part of a documentary on the awards that ran on KHON. There is also an awards ceremony, which took place on Wednesday, May 21st at Washington Place (The Governor’s House). Our picture was also in the Star Bulletin talking about the event. This was a great first task for our mentorship group as it provided us an opportunity to work on team building and create a nice commercial for a local business.
