Fishing on Hawaii is a natural thing here in because we live on an island. Since we live on an island, we use our resources, and with the growing population, our native fish are being over fished. With the possibility of over fishing and extinction, fishing regulations were put into effect. Overfishing is not just a problem for fish, but also crustaceans, such as Lobsters and Crabs. Regulations for fishing consist of size and gender; the same also goes for crustaceans too. Fish or crustaceans have to be a certain size and usually a male to be a legal catch. Fishing is considered a sport because it is very much like hunting because you're catching to eat or using it for a tournament entry. Fishing can be done in a way that does not harm the environment, but fishermen have to make sure that they clean up anything that they have left behind like old nets, fishing line or anything that can hurt the ocean animals or coral reefs.
